Kit on Coma

My kit lens (18-55mm) is on coma. It won't autofocus. I sent the kit to Canon Service Center at Makati City yesterday. CSR said the prob is the connector (flex) and it needs replacement. The cost of the flex is only around P200 while the service fee is at whopping P1200.00. He recommended flex replacement without opening the Canon kit lens. I guess this is a common prob of the kit lens, he knows what to say and what needs to be done instantly. If it turns out, the motor of the lens is the culprit and not the flex, am gonna kikhisbut. The kit lens is on coma for about 3 weeks. Sucks.

Also had time to play pool over at MCS yesterday. After a month of no pool action.

Unboxing Canon EF S 55 - 250mm F/4-5.6 IS

Here's the Christmas gift I gave myself... Canon EF S 55 - 250mm F/4-5.6 IS.

I ordered this mid-December. Only now it is on hand. Another thing that I must learn to use. The plan is to use this on sports photos, some travel maybe, and most likely sniping too. :-)

The price hovers P11,000 and that is the cheapest I can go into acquiring an IS telephoto zoom lens.

As far as lens buying is concerned, this will be my last lens for a while ( a year to a year and a half). Aside from lens are so pricey and that I don't have enough cash to throw away, another reason not to jump on big time lens is that, the lens I got (kit 18-55mm, 50mm 1.8 prime and now this telephoto lens), i haven't really mastered using 'em all. Eto muna aralin ko then maybe mid next year or Christmas next year, upgrade again.

My DSLR Did 9999

My camera registered it's 10,000th (close, it's actually 9999th) shot last night. I just noticed it now that the file name reverted to 0000 series. I got this camera last August, so after 160 days, on average, i am firing 63 shots a day. But I am sure, a lot of those shots are tests. And, others are also getting hold of my camera and so a lot of the registered presses aren't mine. I can say, safely, I do 50 shots a day. Posting this info/photo for remembrance. Here's the the 9999th shutter snap...
